    "Motorcycle Quiz" Idea via shaunthesheep

Post  gazzette on Sat Nov 28, 2009 5:45 am

When was the motorcycle's layout established?

    1.1904
    2.1914
    3.1934

The rotational force of the crankshaft is transmitted to:

    1.the engine
    2.the front wheel
    3.the rear wheel

Which of the following is not one of the three ways used to classify a motorcycle engine?

    1.the number of cylinders
2.the number of strokes in its power cycle
    3.the size of the camshaft

Which of the following is not one of the three basic ways to transmit engine power to the motorcycle's rear wheel?

    1.chain
    2.belt
    3.gear

Unwanted motion in the rear of the motorcycle is called:

    1.gear shaking
    2.shaft jacking
    3.clutch clunking

The frame, suspension, wheels and brakes comprise the motorcycle's:

    1.body
    2.channel
    3.chassis

What allows motorcycles to use tubeless tires now?

    1.cast wheels
    2.pneumatic tires
    3.steel rims

What do riders use to activate a motorcycle's brakes?

    1.hand levers
    2.foot pedals
3.both hand levers and foot pedals

Which of the following types of motorcycles aren't street-legal?

    1."naked bikes"
    2.off-road bikes
    3.sport bikes

When was the motorcycle's layout established?

    1.1904
    2.1914
    3.1934

Not sure what's being asked here? Didn't Harley produce a first recognisable Motorcycle in 1902?

The rotational force of the crankshaft is transmitted to:

    1.the engine
    2.the front wheel
3.the rear wheel - In most cases, although there have been a couple of two wheel drive bikes, and the old Velosolex - and others - used to drive the front wheel.

    1.chain
    2.belt
    3.gear

    All three are!

Unwanted motion in the rear of the motorcycle is called:

    1.gear shaking
    2.shaft jacking
    3.clutch clunking

The frame, suspension, wheels and brakes comprise the motorcycle's:

    1.body
    2.channel
    3.chassis

What allows motorcycles to use tubeless tires now?

    1.cast wheels2.pneumatic tires
    3.steel rims

Another trick question! Some traditional wheels can also use tubeless tyres!

What do riders use to activate a motorcycle's brakes?

    1.hand levers
    2.foot pedals
3.both hand levers and foot pedals

Which of the following types of motorcycles aren't street-legal?

    1."naked bikes"
    2.off-road bikes
    3.sport bikes

All three can be street legal!

    Sorry Boys...................................

    Post  52BlackShadow on Mon Nov 30, 2009 7:17 am

Sorry Boys, I'll try to dumb it down for you in future!

Hope everyone's OK out there, I had a little off on the M1 a week or so back and learned why an open faced helmet isn't always the best thing to wear (someone swapped lanes across the front of me, knocked my front wheel out from under me then drove off and left me bouncing down the middle of the motorway trying to avoid the following cars).

It wasn't as bad as it sounds, but I skinned my chin a bit and so can't shave for a couple of weeks - the beard is getting a bit itchy now!

    Ride safe,

    Shad.

    Bike's fine..................................

    Post  52BlackShadow on Mon Nov 30, 2009 7:40 am

    Hi again,
the bike's fine really, it ground the right hand crashbar almost right through, and moved the fairing about half an inch to the left, but that saved the cylinder head from grinding out, and everything else seemed to come out with just a few scrapes. It's still ridable (I rode it home when it happened much to my Kids disgust when I appeared at the door with blood gushing out of my face).

I guess that's the point of running a winter hack really. To save harming anything decent.

I didn't have time to be scared really, but I think a few of the following drivers has a little skidmark to show for it!

    Ride Safe,

    Shad.

I'm afraid I'm already beating the girlies off with a shitty stick, so better avoid anything that'll make me even more gorgeous!
