Why do motorcycle cops use cruiser/standard motorcycles instead of sportibikes, wouldn't they catch riders on 1000 cc sports bikes?

Try getting away from one of them. When they chase they're pretty bloody good at it, and generally dont loose their quarry. But they do have sports bikes. See the blade below :

that blade cop bike ive seen , leaving bsb race at croft last year , its either durham or northumbrian force i think , but watch out for the un-marked cop bikes !!!! , north yorkshire force have a trick busa , & cop riders are very well trained in high speed pursuit & everything else , do NOT try & race 1 , cos youll bin it before him , & thats gonna hurt
