Steady now STS.

We constantly promote the fact that speed in itself is not dangerous - depending on the circumstances of course. Although I doubt the average 20 year old will have ensured the appropriateness of his speed when let loose in a fast car.

I am, however, in agreement at the degree of leniency shown to a mechanic on the grounds that he 'saves lives' in Afghanistan.

As a paramedic I would have been banned without a second thought if I had been caught at these speeds - and arguably my job saved more lives than this lucky chap will.

Will this decision be used as precedence in all future cases involving forces personnel who find themselves in court?

he was in a 50mph zone ( obviousley roadworks ) ...how many lives would he have " TOOK " should he have ran into the back of a car with a family in ???

if he were on a stretch of motorway ..where it was clear .. and no traffic ahead ( say evening or early mornin ) ..then MAYBE id be more sympathetic .he wernt .

To be honest I agree with sts.........but hes a soldier......load of bollocks.

If then he is a soldier who we are supposed to respect because he puts his life on the line in Afghanistan,maybe the prick should of though of the lives he could of taken out in the UK drving at them speeds.

Prick.........glad he aint got my back if I was in Afghanistan.

I believe that the law excuses no one. I think it is being unfair that he was only fined of this kind of act. I think there are still more soldiers who can save Afghanistan than to disobey the rules that they implemented, shame on you law breakers. wazzer
