    A blameless motorcyclist was left facing court and a fine of up to £5,000 after police charged him over an accident they knew was caused by a pothole.
    Andrew Bannell was left severely injured after he hit a road defect and lost control of his Suzuki, hitting a car travelling in the opposite direction.
    Despite suffering broken ribs, a punctured lung, an eye haemorrhage and ligament damage to his knee, the 25-year-old was charged with driving without due care and
    attention by officers from Avon and Somerset Police.

    really stupid .... I had a guy drive into the side of me a couple of years ago he was taking the 4th exit by driving round the outside edge of the roundabout .... the highway code says in that lane he should have been taking the 1st or 2nd exit .... he smashed all down the side of my car and gave me whiplash .... the police didn't charge him even though he was clearly in the wrong .... then you read something like this which was clearly an accident in real terms .... good grief makes yer blood boil Mad

    On a narrow country lane many years ago. Came around a corner, saw truck looming up on me catching both hedges so stopped. Truck went over me before stopping. Bar steward then woke up (?) saw he had gone over me so reversed back over me !
    I only had minor injuries but bike was resembling a bannana !

    I got done for driving without due care ! Wonderfull !.

    Yet another soft target,more money for the police costabulary,I m a law abiding citizen yet see this daily police targetting motorist.
    Speed cameras do save lifes but there really taking the pias now.
    I would put a claim in via the city council.

    I still chuckle over that three abreast overtaking manouvre at Crossgates mate, never seen a CB900 grasstracking one handed whilst flicking the bird at the same time Shocked

    Things like this further shake one's support of the Police.

    Poor fecker nearly gets killed and the very people we look to for protection are the first to stick the boot in.

    These actions lay them open to accusations of laziness, corruption and prejudice - the three things least commensurate with good policing.

    The officers/sergeant/inspector who put this forward for consideration by the CPS are a disgrace to the uniform and should be disciplined, re-assigned, demoted or sacked - maybe all four.

    parapanfan I like it best when the police are caught speeding and get off with it............Other day was a police horse truck,I was following him and clearly the lights was on red even form 50 yards,he just went straight through,cars beeping at him.
    I did notice the yellow speed camera flash the vehicle but wonder if he will get charged.

    His excuse will be that a sudden stop would jeopardise the safety of the horses - he will therefore get away with it.
