    Speedometer on a motorbike? Empty Speedometer on a motorbike?

    mine is broken sometimes the Needle flicks up and down,sometimes it works sometimes not,any Idea what casues this.

    Don't know if the clocks are the same but mine has a Tachograph in....Had to have it calibrated was fine after,ya need to get it sorted........How do you know how fast you are going if a copper is following you..........?


    Help on speed.

    im sure your bike has analogue clocks , USUALLY a " wavering " of the speedo means the cable is on its way out (cable fraying ? )

    really not sure how your particular model works , just check .

    had same prob with VFR400 , bought new cable , but it wernt the trouble ( anyone need a speedo cable for a vfr400 ? ) it turned out to be the nylon locator ( the cable fits into the square slot ) it had " rounded off " SO rather then waiting 5 months for a new bit from Honda ( chances they would have one of them in stock is next to zero ) i heated up a small screwdriver and " peened " the slot over 9 making the speedo cable a tight fit once again ) , this might NOT be the problem for you .

    check in your ( if ya got one ) workshop manuel . cant be a major prob

    shaun do you do all your own repairs,after 33 years I am sure you know your way around a bike,aslo a good person to know if people need help,i am glad to know you and hope in the future you can help us and others on here.
