Ride thru Wootton Bassett

Bikers wanting to ride through Wootton Bassett to show the people that we appreciate all that they do for our fallen heroes.

Sunday 14th March 2010

"the ride will be starting at leigh Delamere service station J17 (eastbound)
of the M4.
please start arriving from 10.30am.
Each ride will pay £5 and receive an Afghan Heroes wristband, which will be there entry pass to RAF Lyneham.
The lead riders will be leaving at 12 noon promptly. the route will be along the M4 to J16 before heading along to RAF Lyneham.
we are honored that they are opening the gates for us and refreshments will be available.
all those attending RAF Lyneham will require to pre register giving name,address,DOB and bike reg
This is to enable security clearance to be carried out by the RAF,
REGISTRATION CLOSES MONDAY 15TH FEBUARY 2010
any one that does not reg. WILL NOT be allowed onto RAF Lyneham.

Dont know...maybe email the organisers? Ive registered today, and there are over 1250 bikes registered so far....Gonna be huge me thinks!! really looking forward to it. What a great cause!

Sounds like you do a lot of fun rides all around. If you want you are more than welcome to post your routes on my online map at allstate insurance route maps or allstate insurance motorcycle You can post to the general public or you can make it private. I am an affiliate of allstate and thus the titles are what they are. Thanks for taking a look.

well me & my mate have registered , its only about 1 1/2 hr ride to the service station so barring proper sh@t weather im off , anyone else on here going ???

about it only thing is its a 250 mile ride one way for me

my bad its only 186 and for a good cause so think i will actually do this they deserve it.

Im doing it if it goes ahead, and depending on the weather!!

if anyone fancys meeting , i think ill be leaving banbury about 09.00 / 09.30 ( times to be confirmed ) as my mate cant get his arse out of bed

here's the update ............

After the meeting today with the authorities and the unprecedented response from the biking community we have been asked to close registration one week early. It will unfortunately NOT be re-opening.
We would like to reassure everyone that the ride IS GOING AHEAD WITH the FULL suppo...rt of the police and local authorities. We have spoken to a few local businesses who are all looking forward to the day. ALL bikes will be riding through Wootton Bassett no matter what you may have heard.
Plan details re: routes, times, wristbands, will be made available in document format soon. We have another meeting with the police next week to discuss the finer details.
We can confirm that we will NOT be riding on any stretches of the motorway.

We would like to apologise to anybody who has not registered however wanted to join us, we thank everybody for their patience and support.Thank you for your patience!

people who arent registered can just decide to go out for a ride and maybe just pass through wooton eh, i mean road tax is road tax, unless they count the bikes through then close the roads. Im not going as its a bit of a run for me, hoping to see some great coverage of it though
